David Cooley and Jeffrey Sanker Present
Another New Monthly Dance Party at SBE's Chic New Hollywood Nightclub,
Debuting Sunday, October 29th
Los Angeles, August 8, 2006 - Following the success of the monthly dance party, Sundays at Privilege, David Cooley, founder of the West Hollywood icon, The Abbey, and Jeffrey Sanker, dubbed the "high priest of gay parties," are expanding their first joint venture by adding SBE Restaurant Group's chic new Hollywood hotspot, Area, to their growing Sunday events with Sundays at Area. The kick-off to Sundays at Area takes place on October 29th, from 8 p.m. until close, with music provided by DJ Josh Peace. In celebration of Halloween, guests are asked to come dressed in "Modern Masquerade," which Cooley and Sanker see as "chic, spooky and mysterious - sort of a Clockwork Orange theme."
Masters at the art of work and play, Cooley and Sanker both have a hugely successful following, attracting devoted fans from the world over. Cooley, who recently partnered with SBERG in the operation and expansion of The Abbey said, "Sundays at Privilege was just the beginning of a series of events Jeffrey and I have planned for the gay community, in Los Angeles and beyond. As soon as we saw Area, we knew this SBE venue would be a perfect fit for Sundays as well."
Sanker is the creator of such signature events as White Party Palm Springs, widely considered the greatest gay celebration attracting more than 30,000 attendees from every corner of the globe. He commented, "We received such a great response from our first collaboration and feel Sundays at Area will be the perfect complement to our Privilege events, with its more residential, loungey feel. "
AREA opened in September 2006 and has already become the most talked-about dance club in Los Angeles. It offers a very sleek Mid-Century Modern look reminiscent of a "Case Study" house, with white and caramel-flecked terrazzo floors, wood columns, low upholstered seating and such iconic Mid-Century details as white leather "Barcelona" chairs and George Nelson lighting. Banquettes and sofas create intimate seating areas which surround the dance floor and flank the club's two bars, perfect for guests to socialize and enjoy the club's premium bottle service. An outdoor patio, visible from the club through a clear glass wall, allows guests to enjoy the cool night air at several private seating areas.
Adding to the AREA experience is an unparalleled lighting system and sound quality, thanks to a cutting-edge LED light show above the dance floor and a state-of-the-art EAW Avalon sound system.
Located at 643 North La Cienega Boulevard,
AREA is open Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
