The Abbey Food & Bar hosts a community reading of the “West Hollywood Musical Project” Tuesday May 25 at 5:30-9 pm
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – 4/25/10 – The Abbey Food & Bar will host a community reading of the Complications a musical commissioned to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the founding of West Hollywood. presented by Cornerstone Theater Company on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 during happy hour from at 5:30-9pm.
The community reading gives the general public a chance to come together, socialize, hear the script, hear a song or two and give their feedback to the musical team. Come share your thoughts on the story, the characters, the songs, the lyrics- anything you want to share. It’s your chance to be a part of the play creation process.
The culminating musical, Complications will be performed for the public with a four-week run at Plummer Park’s Fiesta Hall in October-November 2010. Commissioned by the City of West Hollywood, Cornerstone Theater Company presents this world premiere musical featuring book by playwright Tom Jacobson, music by composer Deborah la Puma, lyrics by playwright/director/actor Shishir Kurup.
Created in collaboration with the people of West Hollywood through numerous interviews, story circles, and community meetings, this original musical will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the “creative city” by telling a story of a journey to cityhood.
Cornerstone Theater is very excited to have the Abbey, a fixture in West Hollywood present this first draft of the script to the West Hollywood community.
