ABBEY WEDDING AND COMMITMENT CEREMONY, JUNE
1, 2004
The Abbey hopes to accommodate all those interested
for this very special June 1, 2004 ceremony.
The Abbey looks forward to sharing this occasion
with you and hopes that the evening in our fabulous
new space provides a memorable setting for you and
your mate.
Participants should gather on the Robertson side
of West Hollywood Park adjacent to the Abbey (between
Melrose & Santa Monica Blvd) starting at 6:30pm
and sign in for an 8pm sharp ceremony. 50 couples
at a time will be accommodated. Consecutive ceremonies
will take place if necessary. Additional details will
be posted on this site as they become available and/
or you will receive email information.
To participate in the Abbey's first ever complimentary
& symbolic Wedding and Commitment ceremony, you
must present a valid domestic partnership certificate.
Domestic partnerships in the State of California:
The state of California has passed several pieces
of legislation recognizing and protecting domestic
partnerships. AB 26 establishes a statewide registry
for domestic partnerships and provides hospital visitation
rights and health benefits to the domestic partners
of state employees. AB 1001 makes it unlawful to discriminate
against someone in employment or housing based on
the person's sexual orientation.
West Hollywood:
The Domestic Partnership Program is a long-established
way for couples to have their relationship recognized
by the City of West Hollywood. The City also allows
non-residents to apply for a Domestic Partnership
which may be used by agencies that recognize such
arrangements.
